DSPIAE SP-ES04 abrasive papers for flat heads, 400 grit

Five self-adhesive abrasive papers cut for the flat sanding heads of the electric reciprocating sander. The 400 grit is the working grade: it levels mold seams, ridges of filler and sprue nubs. A flat head keeps a true face while doing so, so no hollow is sanded into a panel and an edge stays sharp, which on flat faces is the main thing that decides the result.

What to watch out for

The grit removes material fast and working in one spot can sand a shallow trough into a panel, which shows up under the paint as a wave. Guide the sander in a smooth stroke along the seam and do not stop; keep checking the face with your fingers. A hand notices a wave before the eye does.

How to work with them

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Work without pressure and always with the whole face of the head, otherwise the edge will cut a scratch.
• Mask the surrounding detail with tape, as a coarser grain does not spare it.
• Replace a clogged paper; a blocked abrasive burnishes the surface instead of cutting it.
• Clean the part afterward, as the remaining grain would scratch the finer step.

Who they are for

The refill is for owners of the electric reciprocating sander with flat heads who regularly sand seams on flat panels, sides and covers. The sander and the sanding heads are not included in the package, and the papers for round heads have a shape of their own.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
