The DSPIAE T1-F01 replacement HEPA filter

A filter element for the desktop sanding dust collector from the same manufacturer. The filter catches the fine particles that arise when sanding plastic and resin and that would otherwise settle in the room and in the airways. It is a consumable: as it clogs, the airflow through it drops, the collector has to run at a higher output and in the end it stops catching anything.

When to change the filter

The manufacturer recommends cleaning the filter regularly after longer continuous work and replacing it with a new one after a longer accumulated period of use. What decides, though, is a look at the element itself: a grayed, dust-laden filter that can hardly be blown clean no longer serves its purpose, however long it has been in service.

How to handle it

• Switch the collector off and disconnect it from the power before changing the filter.
• Take the old filter out carefully, as the dust it has caught is easily released back into the air.
• Seat the new filter so that it beds down all the way around; an element that does not seal is as good as none.
• Do not wash the filter in water unless the manufacturer expressly allows it, as a damp element grows mold.
