UA596 - Sand FS33531 Matt

UA596 Sand FS33531 Matt, a matte Lifecolor shade

One bottle, one matte shade from the Italian manufacturer Lifecolor, marked with the standard number FS33531. That is the main purchasing distinction here: it is not a set but a separate paint with which you replace a single tone that has run out. It is a sand tone, which the manufacturer has also put into its set for the finishes of the Israeli Air Force from the late nineteen-seventies, and in desert camouflage of the upper surfaces it is one of the basic colors. With paints the FS standard number is the most reliable identifier, because the same shade carries the same number with every manufacturer; do not go by the names of the shades, different brands write them differently. The binder is acrylic and the paint is thinned with water or with thinner of the same brand; this is different chemistry from enamel or lacquer, do not mix it with them.

Use

• desert camouflage of the upper surfaces, especially Israeli hardware from the late 1970s
• brush as well as airbrush, depending on how you thin the paint
• a matte surface, the kind that belongs under decals and weathering on military hardware
• replacing a single tone that has run out without buying a whole set

Who the color is for

For modelers who paint by FS standard numbers and want the shade to hand on its own. It also suits anyone who owns a set for the same scheme and has run out of one tone sooner than the others. On large areas spray in thin coats and let each one dry properly; under decals give the area a local coat of a varnish that is compatible with the paint in question.

Stir the paint thoroughly before use, the pigment settles to the bottom. Work in a ventilated space and use respiratory protection with an airbrush. The thinning ratio and the drying time are stated on the box.

The paint is supplied in the package in the volume stated. The thinner and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
