An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter aircraft North American P-51D Mustang in 1:72 scale from Czech manufacturer Eduard, released in the Weekend edition. Weekend is a simplified edition: compared with the richer ProfiPACK edition, it does not include photo-etched parts or paint masks and offers a narrower choice of decal schemes — the plastic itself remains just as good, with fine surface detail and engraved panel lines. Check the exact contents of the decal sheet against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The P-51D was the definitive and most widely built version of the Mustang — a single-seat fighter with a liquid-cooled V engine (a license-built Packard Merlin). Its characteristic feature was the teardrop-shaped, fully glazed canopy giving excellent visibility, along with six wing-mounted heavy machine guns. Thanks to its long range, it escorted Allied bomber formations deep over German territory and became one of the most successful fighters of the Second World War.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue clean joints with thin plastic cement. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior before closing up the fuselage. Apply a gloss varnish before applying decals; many aircraft flew in bare polished metal — you can achieve such a finish by airbrushing metallic paints. Finally, highlight the panel lines with a wash and add light weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
