A short-run plastic kit of the Yakovlev Yak-52/54 Drone Killer in 1:72 scale from Amodel — a training and aerobatic aircraft in the form in which it was deployed against unmanned aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer Amodel. It is a short-run model, typically with a finer sprue and a more demanding fit of the parts — the build therefore calls for more experience and patience than with the large mass-production brands. According to the name the package offers the Yak-52 as well as the Yak-54 variant and markings for the version in the drone hunter role. Check the exact contents, the number of parts and the choice of schemes against the particular package.
The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a two-seat training and sport aircraft of Soviet origin with a radial engine, which has proved itself in basic as well as aerobatic training since the 1970s. The single-seat Yak-54 is its aerobatic relative. The nickname Drone Killer refers to the modern use of these propeller-driven machines against slow-flying unmanned aircraft, which fast jet fighters find hard to engage — the crew shoots them down with an onboard weapon from very close range.
First clean the flash and the molding residue off the parts and dry-fit them — with short-run kits it pays to adjust and fill the joints. Glue with thin plastic cement, and finish the small cockpit parts and the glazing separately. Apply a primer before painting; ideally spray the camouflage and the markings with an airbrush and mask the glazing beforehand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
