Fairey Delta 2 (British Supersonic Aircraft) 1:48 from Dora Wings — a short-run injection-molded plastic kit of the British record-breaking research aircraft with photo-etched parts, masks and decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British supersonic research aircraft Fairey Delta 2 in 1:48 scale from Dora Wings. It is a new short-run tooling supplemented with photo-etched parts, masks and decals for the two record-breaking machines (WG774 and WG777).
The Fairey Delta 2 (FD.2) was a British supersonic research aircraft with a pronounced delta wing, powered by a Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet. It became famous above all on 10 March 1956, when the pilot Peter Twiss set a new absolute world speed record with it, exceeding 1800 km/h. A characteristic feature was the drooping nose with the cockpit, which improved the view on landing, a concept later used on the Concorde. Two prototypes were built.
Dora Wings kits are short-run injection-molded kits, so the parts need mild clean-up and dry-fitting before gluing. Use liquid cement for plastic, and bond the fine photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the slender airframe comes out best in a smooth metal or a bold color scheme laid down with an airbrush, and the enclosed masks help with sharp framing of the glazing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
