Omask 1:48 Mitsubishi F-2A/F-2B — Landing Gear Bay Plugs made of flexible foam, shaped for the Hasegawa kit. Not a kit — it is a masking accessory; you must have the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of shaped plugs made of flexible foam that go into the landing gear bays while the model is being sprayed. This is NOT a kit or an airplane model — it is a masking accessory. You must have the Mitsubishi F-2A/F-2B kit itself, in 1:48 scale from Hasegawa.
The landing gear bay is a deep, irregular cavity that the modeler paints first. Once the model is then sprayed from the outside, it has to be masked — otherwise overspray ruins the finished bay interior. Masking such a cavity with tape and cotton wool is a chore and still does not seal it properly. The foam plug simply drops into the bay, compresses and seals it on its own. It holds without glue and does not need to fit to within a fraction of a millimeter like a rigid 3D print. Once the paint dries, you just pull it out. It also protects the bay from dust and sanding slurry, and the plugs can be reused.
The Mitsubishi F-2 is a modern Japanese fighter aircraft, developed from the American F-16 — but it is not an F-16. It has a noticeably larger composite wing, a longer fuselage, wider horizontal tail surfaces and its own Japanese avionics. The F-2A is the single-seat combat version, the F-2B the two-seat one. Because of exactly these dimensional differences, masks and accessories made for the F-16 cannot be used on the F-2 — and the same logic applies to landing gear bay plugs between different kits.
A modeling accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
