A set of masking items for spraying the camouflage scheme of the Phantom in the inventory of the Israeli Air Force in 1:72 scale. The stencils are cut into the shape of the patches, so you do not have to find the layout of the camouflage by eye or transfer it with a pencil onto a finished surface.

Why it makes the work easier

Multicolor camouflage on the Phantom is made up of irregular fields which pass from the upper surfaces onto the sides of the fuselage and onto the wing. Drawing them symmetrically on both sides of the model is beyond most builders, and one field that goes astray will show forever. A stencil holds the layout and you will manage the spraying even with a smaller airbrush.

Application procedure

• Spray the first shade and let the paint dry thoroughly.
• Apply the stencils to the dry surface, that is always before spraying the next color.
• Press the edges down with a cotton swab, so that paint does not creep under them.
• Apply thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask rather than at an angle under it.
• For a softer transition, lift the mask very slightly around its perimeter and spray from a greater distance.
• Remove the stencils soon after spraying and pull them back slowly over themselves rather than straight up.
