Turned metal 40.6 cm (16 inch) Mark 7 barrels for American battleships in 1:700 scale. A precise metal replacement for the main battery barrels.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an additional set of turned metal gun barrels, not a model in its own right. The package holds precisely turned 40.6 cm (16 inch) barrels of the Mark 7 type in 1:700 scale. They replace the plastic barrels and give the turrets a straight, symmetrical and sharp silhouette that a plastic molding as a rule cannot reach.
The 40.6 cm Mark 7 gun made up the main armament of the American Iowa class battleships, that is, of vessels such as Iowa, New Jersey, Missouri and Wisconsin, and it was also planned for the unfinished Montana class. It was one of the most capable naval guns of its day.
Trim the metal barrels to length, clear them of burrs and glue them into the turrets with cyanoacrylate glue or a small amount of epoxy. Degrease the metal before painting, lay down a primer for metal and then the shade of the main battery. A metal barrel is more resistant both to bending and to later handling.
An additional set of metal barrels. The base ship kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
