A set of water-slide decals in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Studio27. It reproduces exactly the complete livery of the Porsche 962 C in the colors of the Matsuda Collection team: sponsor lettering, race numbers and small markings. The decals are printed with fine registration and the minimum of carrier film, and a placement diagram is usually included.

The real subject and the livery

The Porsche 962 C was the leading Group C sports prototype, the successor to the 956. It was powered by a turbocharged flat-six, and in the second half of the 1980s it was among the most successful cars in endurance racing and in the Japanese prototype championship. The Matsuda Collection colors are among the characteristic Japanese liveries of that era and set this particular entry apart from the other 962 C versions.

Applying the decals

• Coat the surface with gloss clear coat first: on a smooth gloss surface a decal adheres better and no silvering bubbles form.
• Dip the decal briefly in lukewarm water and, once it comes free, slide it off the backing onto the moistened spot and adjust its position.
• Softening and setting solutions make it easier to pull it down onto the shapes of the body.
• Once dry, spray over it with protective clear coat to match the gloss of the car.
