A set of water-slide decals from the Japanese brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale. It holds the complete livery and markings of the racing De Tomaso Pantera carrying race number 33, as it looked at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972. The set is meant for dressing a plastic model of the Pantera in the matching scale; the model itself, and glue and paints, are not included in the package.

The real subject and the livery

The De Tomaso Pantera was an Italian-American GT with a body by Ghia and a Ford V8. Car No. 33 in the colors of the BP sponsor was driven by the pairing of Guy Chasseuil and Jean Vinatier. The Pantera was among the crowd-pleasing rivals in the GT class of the endurance scene of the day, and its bold livery is a favorite subject with collectors.

Application tips

• Coat the surface with gloss clear coat: on a smooth surface the decals adhere better and no silvered edges form.
• Dip the decal in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it comes free of the backing.
• Use a decal softener to settle it into the pressings.
• Once dry, go over it with clear coat, so that the decals are protected and the gloss is evened out.
