This is not a kit. It is a sheet of water-slide decals in 1:24 scale from Studio27, created for the Porsche Cayman plastic kit from Fujimi. The model of the car, the paints and the clear coats are not included in the package and have to be on hand. That is exactly why separate sheets exist: there tend to be one or two marking variants in the box, but the car raced in many color schemes, and a collector as a rule wants a particular car from a particular race.
Laguna Seca is a Californian circuit made famous by the Corkscrew corner, a steep blind descent with a break to the left and to the right, one of the best known places in world motorsport. In 2011 a great parade of racing Porsches took place here, a race of Caymans among it; the cars appeared in replicas of famous historic Porsche color schemes. The designation Hippy refers to the legendary psychedelic livery, the colorful, flower-like waves carried by a works Porsche 917 in 1970, which earned it the nickname hippie. On a modern racing car such a scheme looks unusual and striking, and that is exactly why modelers reach for it.
The basic rule: a decal belongs on gloss clear coat. On a matte finish air is caught under the film and the decal silvers, after which the edges of the marking are unpleasantly visible. With intricate graphics drawn across the whole body you cannot do without decal softener either: it helps to draw the film into the curved sides, recesses and edges, so that the pattern does not jump. Count on the fact that part of the body is sprayed with paint, because the sheet usually does not cover absolutely everything, so you need a shade that follows on from the graphics. At the end comes clear coat and polishing, so that the decal disappears under the surface and the coat takes on that wet, deep look.
The package contains decals only. This is not a kit: the model of the car, paints, glue and clear coats are not part of the delivery.
