A Studio27 decal sheet in 1:24 scale with the Gulf livery for the Pescarolo prototype from the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011. The sheet covers two cars, No. 15 and No. 24, so a pair of cars can be turned out from it. This is not a kit: you are buying the decals only. You have to own the model of the car, as the sheet is made for the kit of the Pescarolo prototype from the French maker Simil-R, which released this car in 1:24 scale. A sister sheet with car No. 35 in the LMP2 class exists separately.
Henri Pescarolo is a French legend of endurance racing: a four-time overall winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a driver (1972, 1973, 1974 and 1984). After the end of his driving career he founded his own team and later began to build his own prototypes as well, so he was a privateer who took on the works brands at Le Mans. His cars twice finished second overall at Le Mans (2005 and 2006). The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The Gulf livery, light blue with an orange stripe, is the most iconic racing color scheme of all: it was made famous by the Ford GT40, which won Le Mans in it in 1968 and 1969, and by the Porsche 917 from the film Le Mans with Steve McQueen. Beware of a widespread error: a Gulf Porsche 917 never won Le Mans overall.
With a full-body livery of the Gulf type one thing is essential: the sheet does not cover the whole area of the body. The basic light blue Gulf color has to be sprayed and the shade has to go with the printing of the decals, so choose the paint at the same time as the sheet. Next comes gloss clear coat, because only on a glossy surface does the decal not start to silver (on a matte finish air is held under the film and a gray veil appears around the artwork). The prototype has a lot of curved areas and leading edges, and without decal softener the film will not settle and will make folds. Close everything with clear coat at the end and polish it to a wet look.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, clear coats, glue and softener are not included in the package.
