The Lotus 72 is one of the most successful formula cars of its time. It brought a wedge nose without a front radiator, radiators moved to the sides of the car and lightened suspension with the brakes pulled inboard away from the wheels. In the middle of the car sits the Ford Cosworth DFV V8, which at that time powered most of the grid. The 72D version is one of the later build stages of this chassis and it appeared in the hands of private teams as well, which bought the car from the factory.
The set carries decals for the color scheme that the manufacturer ties to the South African Gunston team and to the 1974 and 1975 seasons. The name of the team comes from the sponsor whose colors the car carried. The artwork is printed to the shapes of the parts of the Ebbro Lotus 72D kit in 1:20 scale. The colors of the body and the nose are sprayed separately, the decals carry the lettering and the race number.
These are wet decals. The base has to be dried and glossy; with formula cars that matters above all on the curved sides and on the wings, where every edge of the film gives itself away. Separate the artwork close to the printing, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it releases from the paper. Position it on the model, press the water out with a soft cloth and help it over the edges with softener. Secure the dried markings with a coat.
For builders of historic formula cars in the large 1:20 scale who want to build the car of a private team instead of the works version. The package contains decals. The kit, paints, clear coat, softener and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
