1:24 Mercedes SLS - Rowe Racing No.98 Monza 2015 Decals Set (for Fujimi Kits)

The real subject

The Mercedes SLS is a sports coupe with a long front hood, a short tail and doors that open upward. Its racing form for the GT3 category was created for endurance events, where the car runs for hours in the hands of several drivers and where an even pace counts for more than one fast lap. Monza in Italy is a particular test for such a car: long straights interspersed with chicanes mean hard braking from high speed and a setup that makes no sense anywhere else. The markings on these cars tend to be bold, so that the pit crew and the spectators recognize the car even at dusk.

What the set contains

A decal sheet in 1:24 scale for one particular set of markings of the car, designated as the Rowe Racing team with race number 98 for the race at Monza. The set is prepared for Fujimi kits; on a model from another maker the shapes of the parts differ and some of the items may not fit.

How to apply the decals

The base is dried gloss clear coat, as on a matte surface a silvery veil remains around the item. Cut the item out together with a margin of backing paper, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it can be moved to the side. Transfer it to the model, settle it into position and draw the excess water off with a soft cloth. On rounded areas and around the vents a decal softener helps. Once it is perfectly dry, go over the whole part with a layer of clear coat, which sinks the edges into the surface.

Who it is for

For builders of racing cars in 1:24 scale who want a particular car from a particular race instead of generic markings from the box. The kit, paints, clear coat and softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
