Careful, this is not a kit. It is a decal sheet of the Japanese brand Studio27: you get water-slide decals and a guide to their placement, the model of the car itself is not in the package and you have to buy it separately. The decals are made for the Lancia Super Delta plastic model in 1:24 scale (the Hasegawa kit) and they carry the colors of the car with the Valvoline sponsor identity, an American brand of motor oils, from the Rallye Monte Carlo 1996.
The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is the most successful rally car in the history of the world championship: it brought Lancia six consecutive manufacturers titles (1987 to 1992). Super Delta, also nicknamed Deltona, is its last evolution, with wider fenders, a stiffer body, larger wheels and bigger brakes. After the 1992 season, though, Lancia withdrew from works entries in the WRC and the Deltas raced on in the hands of private teams. That is exactly where the car from Monte Carlo 1996 belongs: a legend which no longer races in works colors and is seeing out its career in a private livery. And Monte Carlo is the rally: January, the mountains above Monaco and a surface which can change within a single corner from dry asphalt to wet, ice and snow. The choice of tires is a lottery there every time.
Decals belong exclusively on gloss clear coat. A matte surface is treacherous: air stays under the carrier film and the decal starts to silver, which is the most common mistake and one that brings down even an otherwise successful model. So first go over the body with gloss clear coat, let the decals dry out thoroughly and only then lock the surface with another clear coat and polish it. Across the curved edges of the fenders and the large sponsor areas use decal softener, so that the film settles into the shape and into the engraved panel lines.
The package contains decals only. The model of the car, paints, glue, clear coats and softener are not part of the delivery.
