Studio27 1:12 Suzuki RG400 Gamma Walter Wolf, a Dress Up decal sheet is a supplementary sheet of water-slide decals for the motorcycle kit from Hasegawa. This is not a kit: these are only markings, and the model of the motorcycle has to be on hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of water-slide decals from the Japanese maker Studio27 in 1:12 scale, intended for the plastic kit of the Suzuki RG400 Gamma motorcycle from the company Hasegawa. This is not a kit. In the package there is only a decal sheet, as the model of the motorcycle, paints, glue and clear coat are not included and have to be obtained separately. The designation Dress Up refers to supplementary, dressing markings for the Walter Wolf form. Watch out for mix-ups: Studio27 also offers a separate Late Version sheet for this motorcycle, so check before buying which form of the RG400 you are building.
Walter Wolf was an Austrian Canadian businessman from the oil industry who built a Formula 1 stable of his own in the middle of the 1970s. His team entered the 1977 season and Jody Scheckter won the opening race of the season in Argentina with a Wolf car straight away, as a victory on a debut is an utterly exceptional thing in Formula 1. Scheckter then added triumphs in Monaco and Canada that year and finished second in the world championship. The name and the colors of this team carried over to a production motorcycle as well: Suzuki built a limited edition of the RG Gamma in the Walter Wolf livery, a two-stroke road replica of a racing special with a liquid-cooled square four and an aluminum frame. The RG400 Gamma was sold on the Japanese market only, which makes it a cult collector piece today. A motorcycle in the colors of a Formula 1 team is a crossbreed that no brand makes any more.
Decals are applied exclusively to glossy, fully cured clear coat, as on a matte surface air is caught under the film and the decal silvers. That is the most common mistake and on the dark paint of a motorcycle it shows immediately. The tank and the bodywork of the RG400 are markedly more curved than the body of a car, so here decal softener is not a recommendation but a necessity, as without it a decal will make folds across the edges of the tank and will not settle. The basic color under the markings has to match: the base of the Walter Wolf livery is dark (a blue shade, silver on some examples) and the sheet adds the gold and red lines and lettering to it. At the end go over the whole model with clear coat and polish the tank, as it is meant to look like coated metal, not like plastic.
The sheet contains decals only. The kit of the motorcycle (Hasegawa), paints, clear coat and decal softener are not included in the package.
