A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Lotus Type 102B Formula 1 car in 1:20 scale, intended for Tamiya kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lotus Type 102B is a Formula 1 car of the British Lotus stable from the beginning of the nineties. It belongs to the time when single-seaters were built with a carbon fiber monocoque and with aerodynamics refined down to small details, so on a finished model every grille cutout and every thin piece of sheet metal shows.
The package brings photo-etched parts for building this car in 1:20 scale and is prepared for Tamiya kits. A photo-etched fret is a thin metal sheet from which you cut out the individual parts. Compared with the parts from the kit its main advantage lies precisely in thickness: panels, buckles, grilles and covers look thin and accurate once applied, which brings the model closer to the real car. The exact list of parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by tearing them off, otherwise the edge will twist. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bender, so that the edge is sharp and straight. Photo-etched parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, or soldered; apply very little of it, because an excess is hard to clean off metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and use a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will come off during handling. Prepare the small parts over a surface with a raised rim.
For modelers who have already worked with photo-etched parts or who want to try them on a car where the result shows at first glance. Tweezers, a sharp blade and a steady hand come in handy. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
