The real subject

The Porsche 962C is among the most successful cars ever to have run in long-distance races. It came about as a variant of the 962 for Group C, that is for the European championship, and it differed from its predecessor, the 956, mainly in a lengthened wheelbase: the driver's legs no longer lay ahead of the front axle but behind it. Power came from a turbocharged flat six mounted behind the driver's back. In 1986 and 1987 the Porsche 962C won the twenty-four-hour race at Le Mans and in private hands it went on starting for a long time afterwards. The designation 6 Spokes refers to the version with six-spoke wheels.

Building tips

Go through the set before you start building, because some of the parts are fitted before the body is glued together. Carefully cut away the original suggested elements that are to be replaced and sand the area smooth. Try the parts dry and only then glue them. Choose the glue according to the material of the individual parts: cyanoacrylate glue suits metal and resin parts, modeling cement for plastic suits polystyrene. The manufacturer gives the exact procedure and the placement of the individual parts in the instructions for the set.
