A conversion set, a trans kit, from the Japanese brand Studio27 in 1:24 scale for advanced and experienced modelers. It holds resin parts, possibly white metal, photo-etched elements and decals with which a plastic model of the BMW M3 E30 is converted into the circuit special of the TAISAN team from the Japanese touring car championship (JTC) of 1992. It is not a kit in its own right – you need a matching basic M3 model.

The real subject

At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s the BMW M3 E30 was one of the most successful circuit touring cars. The car of the TAISAN team in its colorful livery started in the Japanese JTC championship of 1992 and became an icon of the Japanese racing scene of the period. The conversion makes it possible to capture the specific aerodynamic and interior elements of the racing specification.

Building and painting tips

• Wash the resin parts free of mold release residue in warm water with detergent.
• Cut off the sprue gates and casting blocks and sand the areas with respiratory protection.
• Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, not with classic cement for plastic.
• Apply primer before painting and finish the body with a gloss clear coat and the decals.
