This item replaces the exhaust pipes on a model of the Italian fighter Macchi C.200 Saetta. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a separate replacement part intended to sharpen up a model that is already under way. Behind the set stands Quickboost, a brand focused on small replacements for aircraft kits.
On the Saetta the exhausts of the radial engine sit right behind the engine cowling and the eye catches them first. In the large 1:32 scale the model is so big that a solid pipe with no bore looks coarse. The replacement gives the nose its crispness back and stands up even to a close look or a macro photograph.
The Macchi C.200 Saetta was a single-seat fighter of the Royal Italian Air Force (the Regia Aeronautica), powered by the air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine. It first flew in 1937 and from 1940 it took part in the fighting over the Mediterranean, Malta, North Africa and on the Eastern Front. It was regarded as an exceptionally agile machine with pleasant flying qualities, but it paid for that with weak armament and a lower speed against newer opponents. Typical of it are the high spine behind the cockpit and the strongly shaped engine cowling.
The item is supplied unpainted, and paints and glue are not part of it.
