Gunze XAC01 Steel Haze Dark Blue, Mr.Color lacquer, 18 ml

XAC01 is a paint from the Japanese maker Gunze (Mr.Hobby) in the Mr.Color line, that is a lacquer with a base of organic solvents, not a water-thinnable acrylic. The bottle holds 18 ml. The shade belongs to the licensed Armored Core Color line and matches the main armor tone of the mecha SCHNEIDER NACHTREIHER/40E Steel Haze. It contains an admixture of fine metallic particles, which give the surface a solid look with metal showing through.

Use

• It is thinned with Mr.Color lacquer thinner, or with Leveling Thinner. Water and acrylic thinner do not suit this chemistry.
• It is applied with an airbrush and with a brush alike. The smoothest surface comes from an airbrush and thin covering coats.
• Stir the paint thoroughly before work and during spraying, as the metallic pigment settles at the bottom.
• Shades with metallic particles tolerate masking and overspray less well, so apply them toward the end of the work.
• Do not apply the lacquer over a layer of enamel, as the solvent would damage it.
