A resin replacement engine cowling for the F6F-3 Hellcat, the late version with open cowl flaps in 1:48 scale from the maker Quickboost (Aires) for the Hobby Boss kit. It is not a model but a detail part for a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail part, not a model in its own right. It replaces the engine cowling on the plastic F6F-3 Hellcat kit from Hobby Boss in 1:48 scale. This variant represents the late cowling with open cowl flaps, so the aircraft looks as it does with the engine running, with the power unit ventilated and alive while taxiing or on deck. You have to own the base kit, as the part does not make an aircraft on its own.
The casting captures the fine relief of the ribs and of the open flaps more accurately than injection-molded plastic allows, and it suits above all a diorama rendering of a machine standing or starting up. If, on the other hand, you want the early cowling with the flaps closed for the Hasegawa kit, reach for the sister variant, early with closed flaps; it is a different kit and a different state of the flaps, so take care not to mix them up.
Carefully separate the part from the casting block (cut it, do not snap it), clean it up and wash the residue of the mold release agent off it. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Try the part dry before gluing and fit it in if need be. Paint it only after a base primer has been sprayed on; the inside of the flaps and the engine bay call for darker metallic shades and emphasis with a wash.
A detail part for a kit: the kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
