Injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine North American B-25J Mitchell medium bomber in the Strafer version, in 1:48 scale from HK Models (Hong Kong Models), a manufacturer specializing in quality large kits. The model combines plastic parts with photo-etched parts and comes with waterslide decals. The exact contents of the box and the marking options depend on the edition.
The B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber used in the Second World War on every front. The Strafer (gunship) version did not have the glazed bombardier nose but a solid nose fitted with heavy armament, several 12.7 mm machine guns supplemented by side gun packs on the fuselage. It was used for low-level attacks on ships, airfields and ground targets, where fire from straight ahead destroyed the target during the run-in itself. This tactic was used to great effect above all in the Pacific and in the Far Eastern theater.
Separate the parts with side cutters and dry-fit them before gluing; use liquid modeling cement for plastic. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). On a twin-engine bomber, give attention to the clear parts of the cockpit and the gun positions and mask them before spraying. Apply primer before painting, spray the surfaces with an airbrush and grade the natural metal panels with different shades of aluminum. Apply the decals over a gloss coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
