A set of figures from Mars in 1:72 scale capturing the infantry of the Saxon army from the period of the Northern War, that is the conflict of the years 1700 to 1721. Saxony entered it alongside Russia and Denmark against Sweden, and its ruler was at the same time king of Poland, so the Saxon regiments moved about the whole northeast of Europe. By this time the infantry already looked different from the army of the preceding century: the pike was disappearing from the armament, the musket with a bayonet united fire and close combat in one, and a whole regiment formed up in a shallow formation in order to fire with as many barrels as possible. With that came the uniform coat and distinguishing colors on the facings.
In 1:72 scale an adult figure corresponds to roughly 24 mm. A formation of linear infantry lives on regularity: equal intervals and a uniform angle of the weapons will do more for the impression than fine painting of the detail.
For collectors of historical figures and builders of dioramas of the early 18th century. The infantry will complete artillery and cavalry of the same scale and serve as the basis of a battle or camp scene.
Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
