1:72 Lithunian Tatar Light Cavalry 1st half of the XV century

The real subject

The Tatar families settled in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania formed a distinct component of its army from the end of the 14th century. They served as light cavalry: without heavy armor but fast, armed with the bow, the saber and the lance. Their work was reconnaissance, harassing the enemy, pursuit and fighting in open order, that is the tasks for which heavily armored cavalry was too slow. In the first half of the 15th century these riders belonged to the picture of the battlefields of the eastern part of central Europe, where the Lithuanian and Polish armies clashed with their neighbors.

What the set contains

Figures of light cavalry in 1:72 scale, that is both the riders and the horses. They are supplied unpainted, and before work they have to be separated, the excess material carefully cleaned off with a sharp blade and the surface gone over with fine sandpaper. A figure that in reality stands around one hundred and seventy-five centimeters tall measures not quite two and a half centimeters at this scale, so count on fine work.

Painting tips

Wash and degrease the figures first and try the adhesion of the paint on one piece before you start on the whole detachment. Paint from the darker tones toward the lighter ones and bring out the folds of the clothing with a dark wash, which at this scale does more for legibility than drawing in details. With the horses a basic shade of coat complemented by darkening of the legs and the mane has proved itself. Keep the whole group together in color, so that it looks like one detachment on the table.

Who it is for

For collectors of figures for historical battles and for players who put armies together in 1:72. Paints, glue, brushes and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
