Red Army infantry of the period of the Second World War at the small scale of 1:72. The set serves to people scenes with Soviet vehicles, where a larger number of figures in basic fighting stances is needed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Soviet rifleman is the most frequently depicted figure of the whole eastern theater and at the same time the one with which the number matters. A company made itself felt by mass and not by technical superiority, and that is exactly what a photograph of the period looks like: a thin chain of men in a quilted jacket, with a rifle with a long bayonet or with a submachine gun with a drum magazine, a pouch with spare magazines over the shoulder, a canvas bag instead of an infantry pack. A modeler building a scene with a tank usually needs more than a handful of such figures, and that is precisely why figures on this subject are sold in larger sets.
With small figures the choice is between two paths. Solvent glue for polystyrene works by melting the surfaces and letting them fuse; it holds firmly, but only on hard plastic. On softer materials it leaves nothing at all behind, because there is nothing in them for it to dissolve.
It pays to sacrifice one casting, put a drop of solvent glue on a hidden spot and after a while prod it with a pin. If the surface softens, it is hard plastic and the build will proceed in the usual way. If it stays unchanged, the set belongs to the more flexible materials and the joints will hold only with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or two-part resin. With flexible plastics it moreover helps to secure the joint mechanically with a short pin of thin wire.
To be on the safe side it is worth checking how the paint behaves as well. A drop on a hidden surface will show whether the paint holds once it has dried or can be wiped off with a finger. With numerous sets a minute like that is a good investment, because otherwise there is a risk that the trouble will show up only on dozens of finished figures.
