A model of the Japanese Mitsubishi J4M Senden fighter aircraft in 1:72 scale. A design from the end of the Second World War that never reached series production.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi J4M Senden belongs among the Japanese fighter designs of the end of the Second World War. It remained at the project stage and never reached series production, so no aircraft and no photograph of ordinary operation has survived to the present day.
The late Japanese fighter projects arose under the pressure of a single requirement: to get quickly to a great altitude and to have armament effective enough against heavy bomber formations. That is precisely why unusual design solutions appear in them which are not seen on the production types of that time.
Models of designs that were never realized have a special position in a display case: they show the road along which development did not in the end go. Next to the ordinary production types the Senden stands out, and it tends to be the most talked about piece in a collection. The 1:72 scale moreover keeps the model at a reasonable size, so it fits easily beside machines already built.
Try the parts dry before building, cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. Wash the model before painting, degrease it and apply a base coat. The manufacturer's instructions give the recommended glue and the order of the build.
Because the subject never flew, there is nothing exact to hold on to with the color scheme; keep to the scheme in the instructions, or choose a form matching the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service of the close of the war.
Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
