Landing gear bay masking set for the Spitfire Mk.IXe (1:48) - flexible foam masks for clean spraying of the underside and of the landing gear bays.
Responsibility details are not available.
Flexible foam masks intended to cover the landing gear bays of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe fighter in 1:48 scale. The soft foam is pressed into the openings of the wheel wells, where it is held by its own springiness, so that when the underside is sprayed no paint runs inside or onto the fine detail. The solution is faster than filling the bays laboriously with tape, and the masks can be used again after washing. The set is shaped for the particular Spitfire Mk.IXe kit in this scale.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was the answer to the German Fw 190 fighters: the proven airframe received a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine with a two-stage supercharger, which gave it back its superiority at altitude. The e in the wing designation corresponds to the later armament of two 20 mm cannons and two large-caliber machine guns. The Mk.IX ranks among the most widespread versions of the Spitfire of all.
This is a masking aid, not a model. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.
