A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are stuck onto the frames of the canopy glazing and onto the other clear areas, so that spraying gives clean, sharp transitions with no laborious masking with tape. This is the single-sided variant – the masks are meant for the outer side of the glazing. Cutting them to the Mk.IXe airframe guarantees that they sit exactly on the frames of that kit in this scale.
The Spitfire Mk.IX came about by fitting the proven airframe with the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin of the 60 series with a two-stage supercharger, so that the fighter could match the German Fw 190. The e wing designation corresponds to armament of two 20 mm cannons and two large-caliber machine guns. The Mk.IX became one of the most widespread and most successful versions of the Spitfire.
