On a layout and on a diorama the road is usually the second most visible area right after the landscape, and a badly chosen shade gives it away at first glance. This paint is prepared directly for roadways in the shade of asphalt, so there is no mixing of gray out of several shades and no guessing how much black is still too little. Asphalt is in fact never black, but rather gray with a hint of brown.
First free the base of the roadway of dust and grease and let it dry completely. Apply the paint in several thin coats, not in one heavy one, because a heavy coat fills the texture of the surface and the area then looks like plastic. Let the area dry between coats. The specific thinning and the drying time are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A real road is not one color. The middle of the traffic lane is usually darker from dripping oil, the wheel tracks lighter and smoothed instead, and the edges by the curb clogged with dust and with deposit from the greenery. These differences only need suggesting lightly, after the base coat has dried. Apply repaired potholes and the patches left by digging in a different shade of the same paint, because it is precisely those that make a roadway believable.
The paint will be appreciated by anyone building a landscape with a road network who does not want to mix the shade of asphalt laboriously. Working with it calls for no experience, because the area of a roadway forgives small unevennesses in the coat.
The paint is supplied on its own. A brush, the thinner and the base of the roadway are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
