Acrylic Paint White

What it is

An acrylic paint from Heki in a white shade. It is one shade in a bottle, not a set. The volume of the package and the recommended thinner are stated by the manufacturer; acrylic paints are usually applied with a brush and can be sprayed once thinned.

Where white is used

White is useful twice over in building a model and in building scenery. Once in its own right: window frames, railings, road markings, lettering, plaster and snow-covered surfaces. And once as part of the other shades, because adding white turns one solid color into a whole range of lighter tones that set neighboring surfaces apart from each other. It also suits picking out edges with a dry brush, where a barely noticeable amount of paint is spread over the raised areas until the texture of the surface draws itself.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom when it stands.
• White covers worse on a dark surface than other shades; count on several thin coats instead of one heavy one.
• Let each coat dry, otherwise the brush bites into the previous one and the surface is left streaky.
• When mixing, add white drop by drop; the mix lightens faster than you expect.
• Wash the brush right after work; dried acrylic is very hard to get out of the bristles.
• Close the bottle carefully, an open container dries the paint out and thickens it.
