A New Ware masking set in the BASIC range of kabuki tape for a model of the Airbus A400M military transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. The cut parts deal with the glazing of the large cockpit without cutting by hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains pre-cut masks of kabuki tape for a model of the European Airbus A400M military transport aircraft, which was formerly presented under the name Grizzly as well. The designation BASIC expresses the range of the set: the basic level concentrates on the main glazing and the wheels. On a large transport machine that is exactly what holds a builder up most.
The A400M is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft developed for the needs of the European air forces. The cockpit has extensive glazing with many frames and the landing gear is intricate, so a model offers plenty of areas that have to be masked off before painting. Masking such a cockpit by hand is a long evening's work and the result tends to vary.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry. Peel the parts off with tweezers, lay them on and press them down with a toothpick around the perimeter; on long straight runs work from one end, so that the tape does not ripple. Cover the free areas inside with a strip of tape or with masking fluid. Spray the paint in thin coats, so that the frames do not visually thicken. Remove the masks shortly after drying, with a pull at a shallow angle. On a model this large the rest of the sheet comes in useful for the wheels, the covers and transitions between shades.
The set serves for masking while painting. It does not contain a model, paints or glue.
