An accessory for building a model of the well-known three-engined Junkers Ju 52/3m in 1:72 scale. The set covers the two things that are hardest to mask on the model: the canopy framing and the tires of the wheels. The templates are machine-cut from thin kabuki tape, so there is no need to cut with a knife on the model itself.
The Ju 52/3m was a three-engined all-metal low-wing aircraft with a characteristic corrugated duralumin skin, which gives the machine its unmistakable look and at the same time complicates masking. It flew in both airline and transport roles, and its fixed landing gear with large wheels is among its typical recognition features. The exact differences of the particular subversion named in the title are stated by the kit manufacturer.
The wheel masks save a great deal of time: the tire is masked with a circular template, the hub is sprayed and, once the mask comes off, a sharp boundary is left between rubber and hub, a circle that is practically impossible to do freehand. On the canopy framing work in layers: first the shade visible from inside the cabin, then the primer and finally the outer color. Lay the tape down with tweezers on a degreased surface and press the edges down carefully, because on a corrugated skin paint likes to creep under the edge. Spray thinly and in several coats, and remove the masks shortly after the paint has set, slowly and at a sharp angle back over themselves.
