An accessory set of parts for a model of the British Bristol Bulldog Mk.IIA biplane fighter in 1:48 scale, intended for the newer Airfix kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bristol Bulldog was a British biplane fighter from the period between the world wars. It served in the Royal Air Force at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s and was at that time among its most widespread machines. It has everything that makes an interwar aircraft a rewarding subject: an open cockpit, fixed landing gear, a lattice of struts and wires between the wings and an uncovered structure on which every small thing is visible. Machines of that time tended to be in a silver finish with striking colored squadron markings.
The set is cut for the newer kits of the Bristol Bulldog Mk.IIA type from Airfix in 1:48 scale. Older releases and models of other origin need not have the same shapes and dimensions of the seating surfaces, so offer every part up dry first, try how much material has to be taken off the original part, and only then cut.
Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down. The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue; wash and degrease them before gluing and painting. On a biplane it pays to think the order of work out in advance: whatever is to be visible inside the fuselage is painted and fitted before the fuselage is glued, and the upper wing comes in turn only once the struts have dried firm. Leave small parts on the carrier material until the last moment, or they are easily lost. Apply the paint in thin layers, so that the texture of the surface stays apparent.
The set is for modelers who enjoy interwar aviation and who want to take the detail further where a kit in 1:48 scale runs into the limits of what it can do. Paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
