1:35 Stencil for prints of traces the tank

What it is for

A tracked vehicle leaves a far more pronounced path behind it than wheeled vehicles do. The transverse links press into a soft surface, in a curve the track widens and the soil is pushed out to the sides. This stencil in 1:35 scale carries a track pattern, so you can get a path like that onto the terrain even after it has hardened.

What the set contains

This is a stencil with the pattern of the tracks of a tracked vehicle in 1:35 scale. Check the extent of the package against the illustration on the box and the manufacturer's instructions, where the recommended procedure for applying it is given as well.

Usage tips

Let the terrain dry completely, and only then lay the stencil on and press it down along its whole length. Apply weakly and gradually, as a pronounced uniform track gives away that it arose all at once. Think out in advance where the vehicle drove and where it stood; the path should have its start and its end out of the scene.

• in a bend leave the outer track longer and more pronounced than the inner one
• in the place where the vehicle stood the imprint may be deeper and sharper
• the overlap of two passes looks natural, a regular repetition of the motif does not
• let the edges of the path fade out in places, as a track is lost on a hard surface
• the path has to match the track width of the model, or the whole effect falls apart

The stencil is intended for builders of dioramas and display-case bases in 1:35 scale where a tracked vehicle stands. Even a beginner will manage the procedure; just try it out as a rehearsal on a piece of cardboard. The model, a base, paints and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
