A 1:48 set of masks for spraying airfield markings onto the concrete surface of a diorama or a base.
Responsibility details are not available.
The concrete surface of an airfield is never just a gray board. A guide line runs across it, along with the outlines of parking spots, numbers and warning markings, and it is these elements that turn a bare board into an airfield. Painting them with a brush is slow and a straight line is practically impossible to hold by hand; the set offers ready shapes through which the markings are sprayed.
The masks are laid onto a finished, dry base before the paint is sprayed. First lay the whole arrangement out dry, because in 1:48 scale one parking spot takes up more room than it seems, and a line drawn across the whole board can no longer be shifted. Only then position the mask; if it has an adhesive layer, press the edges down along their whole length so that paint cannot get under them.
Spray in several thin coats and go easy on the paint; a heavy coat creeps under the edge and the line then tears. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it away at an angle across itself. Fresh markings tend to look too loud on a finished scene, so once dry, rub them back lightly or go over them with a thin veil of the base shade, so that the lines look worn.
The masks are supplied on their own. Paints, a base board and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise. The exact procedure and arrangement are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
