A 1:48 masking set for a model of the He 111 H-3, prepared according to the name for the ICM 48261 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engine bomber of the Second World War, and the H-3 version is among the early machines of its H series. Its distinguishing feature is the fully glazed forward fuselage, where the pilot's position is covered by the same glasshouse as the navigator's and where the gunner's position is offset from the center line of the aircraft. On a model that means a large area of clear parts and many short frames, which are hard to line by hand.
The name ties the set to one particular kit: the He 111 H-3 from the ICM brand in 1:48 scale with the manufacturer's part number 48261. That is convenient for the customer, because there is no need to guess what shapes the parts are cut to. Which areas the set covers is stated on the manufacturer's packaging.
Wash and degrease the clear parts first; on a greasy surface the edge of a mask will not sit down and paint will seep under. Apply the masks with tweezers before spraying; on a glazed nose work continuously from one end so that no panel is left out. Press the edges down thoroughly. Apply the paint in several thin coats and remove the masks as soon as it has set; on a fully cured finish there is a risk of the edge tearing away.
The set suits builders who want clean frames on the glazed nose of the He 111 and do not care to cut dozens of strips of tape. It also comes into its own when masking during a multicolor camouflage finish.
The kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
