A kit of the tracked FV103 Spartan armored personnel carrier fitted with the remote controlled Odin weapon station. It is a new release from 2026 and, according to the manufacturer, besides the plastic parts it contains photo-etched parts and a decal sheet. The finished model measures about 14.5 cm and the build is rated as moderately demanding. The combination of an older vehicle with a modern superstructure is what makes this subject interesting: equipment from the 1970s meets the fittings of a present-day battlefield on a single model.
The FV103 Spartan belongs to the British family of light tracked vehicles linked by a common chassis and aluminum armor. It is an armored personnel carrier with a crew of three and room for several more soldiers. Its light structure gives it an unusually high speed for a tracked vehicle and good mobility over soft ground. The British Army introduced it at the end of the 1970s and used it for decades. The remote controlled Odin station is a modern addition thanks to which the gunner can work from a protected space inside the vehicle.
Finish and paint the running gear and the interior before you close the hull up. Try the tracks on the wheels dry beforehand. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue and bend them over the edge of a ruler. After painting, weather with a wash and pigments; on a tracked vehicle the deposit of mud and dust on the running gear and under the fenders is essential.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
