An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Bedford OXD truck in 1:35 scale from Gecko Models. It shows the version with a metal cargo bed, which differs from the variant with a wooden bed built alongside it precisely in the construction of the load floor. Besides plastic the set also contains photo-etched parts. The model is worked out in detail in the driver's cab and the engine compartment as well.
The Bedford OXD was a British truck with a load rating of thirty hundredweight, that is, roughly one and a half tons, driven on one axle. It was among the most widespread vehicles of the British and Allied armies in the Second World War and was used anywhere men and materiel had to be moved. It was precisely the unremarkable trucks that were the backbone of supply, without which the combat equipment would never have got far from the depots.
Finish and paint the chassis and the cab before you close them up. On plastic use a thin cement applied into the seam with a brush, and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. British equipment tended to be in a single dark shade, so what brings the model to life is the weathering: light dust on the underside, a dark wash into the seams and chipping on the edges of the bed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
