About product

HäT 1:72 - German field wagon of the Second World War

A set with a German horse-drawn field wagon of the Second World War in 1:72 scale, with the team and the crew. It is an addition that gives a diorama its truth: the German army depended largely on horse power throughout the war and wagons made up a substantial part of every column. The parts are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.

The real subject

The notion of a fully motorized Wehrmacht is a mistake: only a smaller part of the units was motorized and most infantry divisions relied on horse teams. The field wagon carried ammunition, rations, the field kitchen and the wounded, and on the Eastern Front it often proved more reliable in the mud than a truck. On a diorama it is therefore a more rewarding and truer addition than yet another armored vehicle.

Building and painting tips

First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the horses separately and harness them only at the end. Set the wood of the bed, the canvas and the metal fittings apart in shade and apply a mud pigment to the wheels.

Who the set is for

  • For players of tabletop wargames in 1:72 scale.
  • For collectors of German Second World War equipment.
  • For dioramas with a supply column and the rear area.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It was not. Only a smaller part of the units was motorized; most infantry divisions relied on horse teams.

It carried ammunition, rations, the field kitchen and the wounded. In the mud of the Eastern Front it was often more reliable than a truck.

Set the wood of the bed, the canvas and the metal fittings apart in shade and apply a mud pigment to the wheels. A single color would flatten the wagon.
