A broad scriber blade without a handle, from DSPIAE. It is clamped in the matching handle, which is sold separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
The blade on its own. It scribes with the whole width of the edge, not with the point like a needle, so it leaves behind a groove with a flat bottom and a constant width along its whole length. That is exactly what tells cleanly restored panel lines apart from scratches that have cut into the plastic unevenly and, once varnished, stand out as a row of scratches.
Clamp the blade in the handle so that it protrudes as little as possible; a longer reach bends under pressure and the line widens in the course of the pass. Scribe by pulling toward yourself along a metal straightedge or a flexible template and without pressure. The first pass is only to mark the track; only the later ones deepen it. Sweep the removed material away with a brush as you go, otherwise it gets pressed back into the groove under the blade.
There is no handle in the package, and without one the blade cannot be guided safely. The material of the edge is hard and therefore brittle; levering it sideways will snap it. After work wipe the blade and store it so that the edge rests against nothing.
The blade is worth buying together with a handle if you do not have one yet; the two parts are sold separately precisely so that a worn blade can be replaced without buying a whole new tool. For a modeler who scribes regularly that means assembling, bit by bit, only the widths actually used.
The model and the paints are not included in the package.
