DSPIAE SPP-03 polishing sponges, the fine grade

Twelve polishing sponges in the fine form. They are fitted to a carrier holder chucked in a modeling drill or a sanding pen. The job of this grade is to remove the marks left by the medium one and to prepare the surface so that the finest sponge only has to bring out the shine.

When to reach for them

After the medium grade. On a matte finish the fine grade tends to be at the same time the last one worth using, because a matte surface will absorb any further polishing anyway. On gloss and clear parts, on the other hand, it is only an intermediate step, and without the final grade the surface stays milky.

How to work with them

• Keep the speed low; heat from fast polishing softens plastic and the surface waves.
• Do not press; the sponge is to work under the weight of the tool itself.
• Clean the part between grades, as a grain from a coarser sponge will make a groove.
• Rinse a clogged sponge in clean water and let it dry.
• Check the surface under sharp side lighting as you go.

Who they are for

The refill is for those who already use the sponges of this range. The fine grade is used up quickly, because the whole surface of a part is run over with it, not just the problem spots, and its cutting action is low at the same time.

Store the sponges separately by grade. After use they all look the same, and a mixed-up grade means the whole sequence has to be repeated from a coarser step. Do not breathe the dust from polishing; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
