A carbon steel blade for a cutting station that holds the material at a precise angle and guides the cut instead of your hand. The station only makes sense with a sharp blade: as soon as the edge gives up, it stops cutting plastic and starts pushing it ahead of itself, the cut waves and the edge breaks. The blade is therefore a consumable part and is changed before you start pressing harder.
The manufacturer points out that the blade is reckoned exclusively for plastic. Sheet metal or any other metal must not be cut with it; the edge would chip immediately and a damaged edge can crack under load. In the same way there is no point in cutting material thicker than the station is meant for.
The spare is for owners of the DSPIAE angle cutting station. The station itself is not included in the package. It pays to keep a blade in reserve, because without a sharp edge the station does not do its main job, that is a repeatably precise angle of cut.
It pays to change the blade before it becomes necessary: a new one costs a fraction of what making a cut-up part again means. The blade is very sharp; keep it out of the reach of children and put a used one into a closed container.
