The DSPIAE MSF-13 glass polishing file

A file of tempered glass with a very fine working texture. It is a finishing tool: it practically takes no material off, it only smooths a surface that you have leveled beforehand with abrasive paper. Tempered glass does not clog as fast as metal does, it does not corrode and its abrasion does not dirty light-colored plastic.

The smaller size

The MSF-13 is among the smaller files of the series. A shorter body is harder to guide over a large area, but it gets where a long file cannot be set down: between details, into recesses and onto small parts. Anyone who finishes large areas will reach rather for the longer size of the same series.

How to work with it

• Work with a drawing movement in one direction and without pressure.
• Put it to use only at the end, after abrasive paper, not instead of it.
• Rinse a clogged surface with water and let it dry.
• The glass is brittle; do not drop the file and do not bend it in your hand.

Who it is for

The file will be appreciated by modelers who finish small parts and intricate places before a gloss coat, and by builders of models with clear parts. On matte coats its effect is lost under the paint.

A smaller file goes well with the longer size of the same series: the shorter one finishes intricate places, the longer one large areas. Store it in a case or wrapped in a cloth; unprotected in a drawer it rubs against the other tools and its fine texture gets damaged. Do not breathe the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
