About product

The DSPIAE AT-TZ08 antistatic tweezers with curved tips

Tweezers with tips of a non-metallic antistatic material, curved to the side. The curved shape makes it possible to work above a part without your hand covering the view, and to reach under edges and into recesses, where straight tweezers get only at an uncomfortable angle.

Why antistatic tips

Metal tweezers pick up a charge from friction and a small light object sticks to them exactly at the moment when you want to let it go. It is worst with decals, whose edge lifts and curls from static electricity, and with small plastic parts, which jump off the tweezers. An antistatic material removes this effect, and on top of that it cannot scratch a painted surface the way a metal tip does.

How to work with it

  • Grip the part as close to the tip as possible; the tweezers hold most firmly at the end.
  • Do not squeeze too hard; plastic tips can deform under a strong grip.
  • Do not use the tips as a lever or for breaking parts off; they are not counted on for that.
  • Wipe glue remains off the tips at once; on a non-metallic surface they hold firmly.

Who it is for

The tweezers are for work with decals, photo-etched parts, small plastic components and finished painted models, where a metal tip would leave a mark. For gripping with great force, say when bending wire, a steel version serves better.

The tips are delicate; do not put the tweezers down tips first and do not use them as a screwdriver.

FAQ

Metal tweezers pick up a charge and a small part or a decal sticks to them exactly when you want to let it go.

A non-metallic tip is markedly gentler on paint than a steel one, so the risk is considerably lower.

It makes it possible to work above a part without covering the view, and to reach under edges and into recesses.

It should not be. The tips are not counted on for leverage or great force; a steel version serves for that.
