About product

RP Toolz 0.25 mm Styrene Sheet (245 x 195 mm)

A thin polystyrene sheet, 0.25 mm thick, in a 245 x 195 mm format from the Hungarian modeling tool manufacturer RP Toolz. It is not a kit, but a modeling material — a raw material from which you make your own parts. It is the same plastic used in injection-molded kits, and that is its main advantage: it bonds with ordinary modeling plastic cement, which melts the surface, forming a true weld rather than just a glued joint once dry. It is painted with exactly the same paints as a kit. By comparison, cardboard would need to be glued with cyanoacrylate and sealed before painting, and metal could not be melted together at all.

What this thickness is good for

0.25 mm is the thinnest option in the whole range. It is pliable enough to be cut with ordinary scissors and bent over an edge or into a curve with no heating. It suits anywhere a thicker sheet would look coarse: imitation fabric covering for control surfaces, thin sheet-metal covers and hole plugs, small overlapping panels and trim, patches over mistakes and repairs to broken parts. If a part needs to look like thin sheet metal even once glued in place, reach for this. For anything load-bearing, on the other hand, it is too soft — that is where 0.3 mm and thicker sheets take over.

Use

  • Imitation fabric covering and thin sheet-metal covers
  • Hole plugs, trim and fine panel overlaps
  • Repairs, patches and completing missing small details
  • Punching discs and shapes with punch-and-die sets
  • Interiors, accessories and dioramas in scratchbuilding

Working the material

The thin sheet can be cut with scissors, or scored with a scalpel and snapped off; the edge then just needs a pass with fine sandpaper. Glue it with thin liquid plastic cement applied into the joint with a fine brush.

Who it is for

For modelers who modify or repair a kit or build their own parts, and for diorama builders. Even a beginner can use it — the thin sheet can be cut and fitted with no special tools.

This is a modeling material, not a kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. When cutting, use a cutting mat and guide the blade away from your body.

FAQ

No. It is a modeling material — a smooth polystyrene sheet from which you cut, shape and glue your own parts. No finished parts or instructions are included.

With ordinary modeling plastic cement, the same you use on a kit. The cement melts the surface, and the joint holds like a weld once dry. It is painted with the same paints as a kit, typically after a primer coat.

Take 0.25 mm when you need the thinnest, most flexible material — coverings, plugs, overlaps and repairs. Once a part needs to hold its own shape, the slightly stiffer 0.3 mm is the better choice.

Yes, at this thickness it can. For a precise straight edge, though, it is cleaner to score a line with a scalpel against a ruler and snap the sheet, then just sand the cut smooth.
