3D-Printed Brake System, the manufacturer's part number DCL-PAR186, is a set of printed brake system parts in 1:12 scale. It is not a model and not a kit of a motorcycle — they are replacement parts that go in place of the plastic parts of the base kit. According to the box the set is intended for the Beemax 13002 kit, that is for the racing Yamaha YZR-M1 of 2007. The printed parts have sharper edges and finer detail than injected plastic, but they are small and brittle.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 was a four-stroke MotoGP class prototype. The 2007 season was the first run with a capacity of 800 cc instead of the previous liter, so the machines were given new engines and new aerodynamics, and the brakes worked with higher entry speeds into the corners. Carbon discs with radially mounted calipers are among the most prominent details of the front fork on these machines, and on a model they are clearly visible, because nothing covers them.
Wash the printed parts in warm water with dish soap before painting and let them dry — residues from manufacture stop the paint from adhering. Separate them with a sharp cut, not by twisting. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic will not bond these parts. A primer is essential; without it the paint peels off a printed surface. The discs look better in a dark graphite shade with a light metallic sheen on the contact face than in plain black.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
