3D-Printed Upgrade Parts, the manufacturer's part number DCL-PAR187, is a set of printed parts in 1:12 scale intended to improve a model of the racing Yamaha YZR-M1 of 2007. It is not a model and not a kit — they are small printed components that are added to an assembled kit or used to replace the coarser plastic parts. According to the box the set is intended for the Beemax and Tamiya kits.
The YZR-M1 was the four-stroke prototype of the Japanese maker Yamaha for the MotoGP class. The year 2007 is a dividing line for this machine: the rules reduced engine capacity from a liter to 800 cc, so the engine, the frame and the fairing all changed and the machines were visibly slimmer. On a racing motorcycle it is precisely the small things that are most on show — bolt heads, levers, caps and wiring stay exposed, because the bodywork covers only a small part of the frame.
Work over a mat with raised edges; printed parts of this size will not be found again once they hit the floor. Wash them in warm water with dish soap before painting and give them a primer. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire, not straight from the tube. A metallic look on bolts and levers comes out better with graphite powder worked over flat black than with a silver paint, which goes grainy on areas this small.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
