A 3D printed detail set in 1:12 scale from the Decalcas brand: the clutch, the chain and the sprocket for a model of the Yamaha YZR-M1 motorcycle in its 2007 form. It is neither a kit nor a finished model — it is a replacement for the kit parts of the drive. The manufacturer intends it for the Beemax kit number 13002.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 is a prototype for the premier class of the road racing world championship. The year 2007 was a turning point in that class: engine capacity was reduced from nine hundred and ninety to eight hundred cubic centimeters, so the machines were given new engines and differently set up chassis. On a motorcycle the drive is visible in full — the chain, the sprocket and the clutch basket are not covered by anything — and a simplified kit part therefore spoils an otherwise finished model.
Dry-fit the chain and the sprocket and check both the pitch and the sag before you glue anything: a chain stretched tight or conversely hanging slack shows on a model at once. Glue the small 3D printed parts in spots with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic will not bond them. A primer is essential, otherwise the paint will not hold. Metal on a drive looks best layered and then slightly flattened.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
